  • 15th – A fake bomb planted by a security company as part of a training exercise at Old Trafford caused the cancellation of Manchester United’s final Premier League game of the season when the firm forgot to take it away.
  • 19th – EgyptAir flight disappears en route from Paris to Cairo with 66 people aboard.
  •  31st – Screenwriter Carla Lane dies at the age of 87. She created hit shows like The Liver Birds, Butterflies and Bread.
